About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Billing & Collections platforms, you contribute directly to the systems that keep the company financially healthy. Your work helps ensure customers receive accurate bills, can make seamless payments, and experience smooth interactions throughout their billing journey. By building reliable, scalable, and high quality software, you help maintain consistent cashflow, reduce revenue leakage, and support strong customer trust. This role gives you the opportunity to make a measurable impact on mission critical business operations while growing your engineering skills in a complex, high visibility domain.

What you’ll be doing

Front-End Engineering & Solution Implementation
• Support the implementation of UI technical solutions across billing applications.
• Work with backend/API teams to resolve integration issues and deliver smooth cross-system functionality.
• Contribute to UI components, design systems, and reusable front-end frameworks.

Architecture & Technical Decision Support
• Participate in evaluating technology options (Angular/React, Node, Webpack, NPM, etc.).
• Support front-end architecture discussions to balance short‑term delivery with long‑term platform modernization (micro-frontends, containerization, cloud readiness).
UI Design & Development
• Implement screens, workflows, dashboards, and customer‑facing modules aligned with BT security, accessibility, and performance standards.
• Convert UX wireframes into pixel-perfect, responsive UI components.
Code Review & Engineering Best Practices
• Participate in UI code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance tuning, and maintainability.
• Keep updated with modern UI trends, frameworks, and industry best practices.
Technical Specifications & Documentation
• Support the design of UI technical specifications for features and enhancements.
• Contribute to estimation, feasibility analysis, effort breakdown, and documentation.
Coding, Testing & Quality Delivery
• Write clean, modular, testable code using Angular/TypeScript, HTML5, SCSS, Bootstrap, and Jasmine/Karma.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and participate in SIT/UAT cycles.
Integration & Compatibility
• Integrate UI with backend systems (APIs, Spring MVC controllers, JSP outputs).
• Troubleshoot UI rendering issues, browser compatibility problems, and platform inconsistencies.
Production Support & Defect Resolution
• Monitor and resolve UI defects across SIT/UAT/Production environments.
• Support real-time troubleshooting for issues like CDN failures, policy changes, Zscaler/VPN migration impacts, etc.
Tooling, Automation & CI/CD
• Support CI/CD pipelines for UI builds, artifact deployment, test automation, and NPM dependency management.
• Contribute to implementation of linting, code formatting, quality gates, and automated builds.
Technical Roadmap Contribution
• Support UI modernization initiatives such as Angular upgrades, dependency cleanup, migration to micro-frontends, or containerization (Podman/Docker).• Assist with design and execution of long-term front-end transformation roadmaps.Engineering & Operational Excellence• Participate in performance monitoring, logging, and observability improvements (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana).• Help track engineering metrics like Core Web Vitals, accessibility rating, build times, and test coverage.Process Improvement & Collaboration• Contribute to improving team processes, sprint workflows, coding guidelines, and documentation quality.• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like ASG, TI, QA, Product, and partner teams

Essential Skills

Candidate must have strong proficiency in:
Core Technical Skills (Must-Have)
• Angular (preferred) or React
• TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Bootstrap
• RxJS, async programming, Observables, interceptors, guards
• Node.js/Express for BFF/API orchestration
• REST API integration, error handling, auth flows
• Debugging server-rendered UIs, JSP lifecycle, form flows
• SharePoint REST API / Microsoft Graph for UI workflows
• Understanding of PL/SQL-backed UI validations & data flows
• Azure Cloud basics: Key Vault, DevOps Pipelines, Azure AD (OAuth2/JWT), SharePoint
• Strong end-to-end debugging across UI, Node, and backend layers
Good to Have Skills
• Spring MVC + JSP (deep understanding)
• Oracle APEX / MedAdmin UI workflows
• Micro Frontends & modular architecture
• NgRx/Redux state management
• UI performance optimization & Core Web Vitals
• Telecom billing/finance workflows
• Podman/Docker containerization
• Exposure to Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, ELK
• Understanding of rating/charging systems (e.g., Netcracker)

CI/CD, Automation & Observability
• UI build pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
• Automated deployments for UI and Java services
• Shell/Python scripting for monitoring or utility tools
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OEM, Dynatrace, Application Insights

Experience

• 3–7 years of hands-on front-end engineering experience building enterprise-grade applications using Angular, React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and Bootstrap—preferably within billing, collections, finance, or other large-scale transactional domains.
• Strong experience delivering UI solutions integrated with Spring MVC and JSP-based backends, including designing front-end flows, optimizing page rendering, and supporting production-grade customer and back-office applications.
• Good understanding of backend concepts and J2EE/Spring MVC flows, with the ability to collaborate effectively with backend engineers and troubleshoot UI–API interaction issues, response mismatches, and data-flow inconsistencies.
• Proven track record in building scalable, maintainable UI components using modern JavaScript frameworks, shared libraries, and enterprise UI architecture patterns.
• Demonstrated capability in writing robust unit, integration, and acceptance tests using Jasmine/Karma, Jest, or related tools—ensuring predictable delivery, regression safety, and production stability.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/Jenkins), including automated builds, test execution, deployments, linting, and secure NPM package management.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Kanban environments, delivering features through continuous flow, incremental releases, and close collaboration with cross-functional squads.
• Extensive experience with Jira workflows for managing requirements, defects, technical tasks, engineering stories, and delivery boards.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues across the UI, browser, API, caching, PLSQL/database, and network layers.
• Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary engineering teams, actively participating in peer code reviews, design discussions, UI architecture decisions, incident triage, and production support rotations.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools (ELK, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana) and familiarity with analysing logs and metrics to identify UI performance or reliability issues.
