Why this job matters?


This role involves being the recognised global lead for Ethernet access product and processes for Global Fabric/BT Connect portfolio and contributes to the Access strategy to drive future-proof Access capabilities, deliver for customer’s ever-evolving requirements and continuously improve BT Business’ competitiveness. Access accounts for 50%+ of connect bid costs and is thus essential for BT Business future competitiveness.


It manages the full lifecycle of Ethernet and DSL access products and supplier management and it acts as the Product Owner for access rollouts. It identifies the opportunities for BI & shapes the plans to implement.


The role also involves being the recognised expert for Ethernet access in Europe and AMEA and provides in-life support to channels.


It also supports and enables GS transformational plans (e.g. compact core, domestic markets).

What You’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Build and maintain depth and breath of product, commercial, technology expertise for Ethernet and all access types in Europe & AMEA
  • Research and analyze market and follow our competitors and the industry
  • Recommend and deliver the Ethernet and DSL access product strategy and produce the overall access roadmap to deliver customer requirements and future-proof access capabilities and drive BT Businessl competitiveness
  • Standardise capabilities with high volumes to reduce non-standard requests.
  • Develop Ethernet Access product development case to support the Ethernet access expansion and development requirements and ensure we deliver to it.
  • Enable Business transformational plans (e.g. compact core, domestic markets)
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Ethernet and DSL access products globally.
  • Support customer BIDs and in-life issues at service activation or service management phases
  • Engage with external suppliers to bring the right products into market for our customers
  • Be the Product owner for any access rollout – Manage and prioritize the product backlog to maintain business alignment and maximize the value delivered by the agile team.
  • Provide Europe & AMEA expertise and in-life support to channels specific to all supported access. This includes supporting non-standard TPP access requests in Europe & AMEA
  • Manage Europe supplier driven product withdrawals to ensure replacement products are available for customer migrations
  • Identify needs and opportunities for Business Improvement & shape plans to implement

  • Sharp data driven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Skills in applying Agile Principles to Portfolio Management and Access rollouts.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at director and senior level such as: all verticals, external customers, Portfolio, DDSO, procurement, Legal, external suppliers and Technologies.
  • Strong communication/listening, presentation influencing and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to details


Key decisions

  • Decide the right solutions (capability, supplier, price points, service wrap) for the right market for our customers
  • Handle customer escalations and external supplier engagement to drive right outcomes for the business and our customers

Experience you would be expected to have

  • Experience on all areas of access product management
  • Multiple years of technical expertise on Ethernet product
  • Experience in customer proposition development.
  • Experience in planning and delivering time critical projects and managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the business/customers benefits
  • Experienced in Agile framework/methodology and Jira
  • Experienced Agile Product owner
  • Strong knowledge of access technologies & BT Business Portolio
  • Experience in identifying and implementing BI opportunities
