Why this job matters?

Accountable for a single small to medium sized technical delivery or multiple simple technical deliveries.
The purpose of the Global Build Professional is to to introduce planning requirements for new technologies. Specifically the role is accountable for

• New technology introduction which includes development and proof of concept, stakeholder management, engagement of front door and process validation
• Collaborates across units and LOBs to introduce new systems and products
• Proposing cost transformation initiatives and innovative ways to simplify and optimise existing networks• Accountable for the management of small/medium programmes of work
• Accountable for the overall end to end success for the planning and implementation activities of the project.
• As necessary leads multi-disciplinary / matrixed teams

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities


• Be able to understand and articulate designs with key stakeholders
• Ensure the scope of delivery is understood, that the technical solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achieved.• Identify pre requisites to technical deliveries and ensure that they are delivered
• Identify when technical deliveries are at risk and take corrective action to resolve
• Make recommendations for improvements to processes.
• Engage with clients and suppliers including internal stakeholders (regular stakeholder comms)
• Regular reporting updates to advise of progress to all stakeholders
• Supports engagement with third party suppliers on technical solution requirements
• Responsible for ensuring the scoping of e2e testing
• Produce and agree technical delivery plan and manage dependencies
• Manage RAG status and expectations of a technical delivery with relevant stakeholders
• Run a regular project review forum with all stakeholders
• Risks/issues/finances/status/resources
• Ensure mitigation of the risks and issues
• Manage handover to operations and the customer
• Stakeholder management
• Identify and implement changes to improve quality and reduce costs
• Accountable for resourcing strategy to meet the planning milestones within a high level programme
• For external projects, accountable for the overall end to end success for the planning and implementation activities of the project
• For internal projects, accountable for the overall end to end success of the project
• You will manage orders to meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Agreed RFS dates and Right First Time measures
• You will manage Vendors/Suppliers and Field engineering teams on the delivery of global build deployments via work-packages that adhere to the BT Health and Safety policies and meet all Global Networks Engineering Standards guidelines
• You will update the master Global POP Information Database (GPID) after every deployment with confirmation of on-site contact, skills etc.
• You will proactively prevent problems by acting before they occur, managing the overall status of your workstack, owning, addressing and escalating issues impacting the delivery of your orders• You will consider any opportunities for CI by taking ownership, identifying possible solutions & driving them through to successful implementation including capturing business benefits• You will proactively own and develop your specific specialist lead role within the team, ensuring that the wider team receives any necessary training in your dedicated area and also proactive engage with any key stakeholders as appropriate


Experience you would be expected to have


• Project management skills/experience – MANDATORY
• Good knowledge of networks/infrastructure and related network management, products and services – MANDATORY• Knowledge of Global Network Suppliers – E.G. Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson, Ciena, Huawei, Nortel -MANDATORY
• Experience of a process driven work-flow environment – PREFERRED
• Strong understanding of BT’s Global networks and technologies as well. -PREFERRED

About the role

The Network Engineering Professional supports the delivery of engineering activities that contributes client technical requirements, deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and the enterprise to achieve their operational and business goals.

What you’ll be doing

1. Supports the delivery of routine daily activities and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
2. Assists the implementation of enhanced network technology that aligns to customers' strategic direction for enterprise and remote site connectivity.
3. Follows standards for global network infrastructure, including wireless, LAN and SD-WAN networks and connectivity.
4. Supports the installation, testing, and setup of new network hardware both physical and virtual (firewalls, routers, switching, monitoring) hardware and software.
5. Executes engineering efforts to ensue currency and supportability of networking technology.
6. Collates data, reports and information supporting technology lifecycle planning, including contributing to the development of the technology roadmaps and Network Health Assessments.
7. Organises material and data for documentation, knowledge transfer and training to successfully land new solutions into the support organisation.
8. Undertakes activities that contribute to the implementation of core and cloud infrastructure security to manage risks and exposure.
9. Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within Network Engineering.
