  • As a Secure Services Engineer, you will help deliver and maintain critical services for customers who depend on BT to keep them connected. Your work will support service performance, improve customer experience and help resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • The role supports BT Group’s priorities by putting customers first, simplifying how we work and using skills, teamwork and technology to deliver secure and dependable services. You will contribute to BT’s purpose to connect for good by helping customers operate with confidence in complex and regulated environments.

What you will be doing

  • Install, maintain and repair secure voice and data services for DFTS customers.
  • Respond to service faults and restore customer connections safely and quickly.
  • Carry out planned work to agreed standards, timescales and safety requirements.
  • Work with customers, colleagues and support teams to resolve issues first time.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used and service updates.
  • Follow security, compliance and site access processes at all times.
  • Share knowledge with the team and look for ways to improve how we work.
  • Travel between customer sites, take part in on-call support and stay away overnight when needed.
  • Where possible, working days may be moved to accommodate out-of-hours working, or overtime may be necessary to meet customer and service requirements.
  • The role requires participation in out-of-hours support, including overtime and on-call working, together with flexibility to travel and stay away from home overnight when required.

Essential Skills

  • Have experience installing, maintaining or repairing voice, data or network services.
  • Be able to work safely, follow agreed processes and solve customer service issues.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in secure, regulated or customer-sensitive environments.
  • Knowledge of copper, fibre, Ethernet or IP-based services.
  • Experience using test equipment to find and fix service faults.
  • Good communication skills with customers, colleagues and support teams.
  • Ability to plan work, manage priorities and keep accurate records.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, systems and ways of working.

BT Group is the UK’s leading communications group and the holding company behind some of the country’s most recognised brands – including BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet. Our purpose is as simple as it is ambitious: we connect for good. Our customers include consumers, small, medium and large businesses, public sector organisations and other communications providers.

BT Group’s role is about setting direction, unlocking value and creating the conditions for our brands and businesses to thrive.

Having come through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, our focus now is on what comes next – simplifying how we operate, using technology and AI to work smarter, and organising ourselves to serve customers better and grow sustainably. Group teams shape strategy, policy, brand, capital allocation and transformation, helping the whole organisation perform at its best.

We have a singular culture that unites all our people: we are customer-first challengers, who are committed, clear and connected. These behaviours unite us as one team to deliver for our colleagues, our customers, our stakeholders and the country. Joining BT Group means working at the heart of a business that matters to the UK, with the opportunity to shape decisions, influence outcomes and help set the future course of one of the country’s most important companies.
