About The Role

As a valued member of BT's Network Service division, you will be part of the Migration Control Centre (MCC), a highly skilled team responsible for delivering critical network migrations, upgrades, and technology integrations across the BT estate.

This is a business-critical role where you will plan and execute complex network changes during night-time maintenance windows, including the introduction of new technologies, software upgrades, service migrations and infrastructure transformations. These activities often involve the temporary withdrawal of live services, making a Right First-Time approach essential. You will be accountable for ensuring services are restored successfully and in an improved state by following strict, proven processes and robust risk controls.

Working on some of the UK's most important network programmes, including Nationwide Critical Infrastructure projects, you will help maintain and evolve the networks that keep businesses, emergency services, and communities connected and protected.
Whether operating within Network Infrastructure or Service Migrations, you will be at the forefront of BT's largest and most complex network changes. The MCC delivers change at a scale and level of risk unmatched elsewhere in the organisation, demanding strong technical expertise, sound decision-making, and a solid understanding of network change management and risk mitigation.


This role is an in office at BT's Birmingam office for all 4 night shifts during Monday to Thursday (choice of shifts are 9pm – 6pm or 10pm – 7am)


There’s a shift allowance that compliments the base salary for this role

What You'll Be Doing

  • Work a permanent Monday to Thursday night shift pattern.
  • Plan, schedule, and deliver complex network changes in line with agreed timescales, technical standards, and service requirements.
  • Own network changes, incidents, escalations, service restoration activity, and Post Incident Reviews (PIRs) within assigned projects.
  • Maintain accurate, fit-for-purpose processes and playbooks that meet Serious About Service and PL documentation standards.
  • Act as technical lead for new and existing projects, supporting Migration Professionals with technical guidance and delivery assurance.
  • Validate processes and complete First Office Application (FOA) testing to confirm readiness, quality, and operational suitability.
  • Identify and support opportunities for transformation, simplification, efficiency, and automation.
  • Develop own skills and support colleagues through knowledge sharing, coaching, shadowing, feedback, and training.
  • Provide clear progress updates to Migration Professionals, leadership teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and ownership in delivering projects, improving service, and supporting operational excellence.

Key Skills & Experience for the Role

  • Working-level networking knowledge and router configuration experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of managing network or IT changes, incidents, and associated follow-up activity.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and apply critical thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Good understanding of Network Delivery processes and procedures.

Desirable Skills & Experience for the Role

  • Experience using automation to simplify processes and increase output.
  • Understanding of project management principles.
  • Vendor networking knowledge/qualification, such as Nokia NRS, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
