Why this job matters

BT is hiring enthusiastic, curious, early‑career talent to join our Solutions Design team. You’ll help shape the solutions we design for major UK organisations across public and private sectors — learning how networking, mobile, cloud, and security technologies come together to solve real customer challenges.

As a Solution Designer, you'll combine technical learning, commercial thinking, and hands‑on solution building in one of BT’s most collaborative teams. You'll develop specialist expertise in a defined technology area while gaining broad exposure to BT's full solution portfolio. And you'll work alongside experienced account managers and business development teams, learning how to turn complex customer challenges into winning technical solutions. You’ll support the design and pricing of technical solutions that help customers achieve their goals.

Fast-paced & customer-focused, this is a role where you'll build technical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills while directly contributing to sales success.

You must hold SC level clearance for this role. You may already have it or be willing to go through the process to get it (requires at least 5 years' continuous residence in the UK)

What you’ll be doing

- Work with sales teams to understand customer needs and shape standardised solutions
- Produce quotes and pricing using BT tools and frameworks
- Support early discovery conversations by spotting customer pain points
- Learn how to build solution designs that combine BT’s networking, mobile, and security products
- Help prepare proposals, customer documents, and delivery handovers
- Support cross-functionally across specialist “towers” such as digital workplace, network & security, and cybersecurity

Experience Required

- Industry experience – in communications, IT services, networking, mobile, or related technologies (from internships, previous roles, or relevant projects)
- Solution design – ability to create and present technical proposals that solve real customer problems
- Commercial awareness – comfortable putting together cost estimates, timelines, and service level information for proposals
- Communication – can explain technical solutions clearly to customers and stakeholders at all levels
- Organised and proactive – able to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Confident contributor – willing to ask questions and challenge assumptions constructively

You'll also have an awareness of BT's services, competitors, emerging tech trends, and UK communications regulations.

DON'T MEET EVERY SINGLE REQUIREMENT?

Studies have shown that women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse or from ethnic minority backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification and criteria.

We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement on the Job Description, please apply anyway - you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles in our wider team.
