Job Description

We operate a flexible hybrid working model—3 days together in the office (Manchester), 2 days wherever works for you. However, on occasion, you may be required onsite for up to five days a week to meet business or customer needs.

Please note: Eligibility for UK Security Clearance at the required level is essential for this role. You must have this clearance in place before you can start.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist in developing and maintaining network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Support the configuration and monitoring of security solutions, with a focus on Fortinet, CheckPoint and Cisco technologies.
  • Participate in implementing cybersecurity best practices, including patching, vulnerability management, and access control.
  • Contribute to infrastructure documentation, ensuring accuracy and clarity for operational processes.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on projects involving network upgrades, security enhancements, and system migrations.
  • Monitor system performance and respond to alerts, escalating issues as needed.
  • Develop skills in automation and scripting to streamline routine tasks and improve efficiency.

The skills and experience you'll need to succeed

Required Skills & Experience

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
  • Familiarity with firewall technologies, preferably Fortinet, CheckPoint and Cisco.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and common threat mitigation techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Fortinet NSE, or Cisco CCNA.
  • Exposure to Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and basic scripting.
