Start date: 7th September

Salary: £35,500
Programme Length: 24 months

Start your career shaping the future of how millions connect.

This is a 24-month graduate programme designed to develop you into a software engineer. On successful completion, you’ll move into a permanent role within BT Group, joining one of the biggest digital and engineering teams in the UK.

About the Team

Join our team within Consumer Digital, where our mission is simple but ambitious: build the best products and services for every Consumer customer.

We’re the people behind the platforms that power our biggest Consumer products: Broadband, TV, and Mobile. Whether it’s keeping our infrastructure running efficiently, migrating critical services, or continually improving performance and reliability, our work keeps customers connected to the things they love.

If you want to build technology that impacts millions, this is where you’ll want to be.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Graduate, you’ll be part of a high performing engineering community that designs, builds, and enhances the technology that sits at the heart of BT Group’s Consumer products.

You’ll work closely with experienced engineers to:

  • Develop and maintain core platform capabilities
  • Contribute to the design and build of new features and services
  • Solve complex technical problems with real customer impact
  • Learn modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies
  • Support continuous improvement across both business and IT services

This role is ideal for someone who loves problem solving, experimenting with innovative technologies, and creating solutions that matter. You’ll grow your skills while contributing to meaningful work from day one.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

Degree: 2:2 or above in a technology related degree, such as Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or Data focused subjects.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting any applications for those who are on a student/graduate visa, or who will need sponsorship during the scheme. All applicants will therefore need a full UK Right to Work for the duration of the scheme without this we cannot accept an application.

About us

BT Group was the world’s first telco and our heritage in the sector is unrivalled. As home to several of the UK’s most recognised and cherished brands – BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet, we have always played a critical role in creating the future, and we have reached an inflection point in the transformation of our business.

Over the next two years, we will complete the UK’s largest and most successful digital infrastructure project – connecting more than 25 million premises to full fibre broadband. Together with our heavy investment in 5G, we play a central role in revolutionising how people connect with each other.

While we are through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, meaning we can reward our shareholders for their commitment and patience, we are absolutely focused on how we organise ourselves in the best way to serve our customers in the years to come. This includes radical simplification of systems, structures, and processes on a huge scale. Together with our application of AI and technology, we are on a path to creating the UK’s best telco, reimagining the customer experience and relationship with one of this country’s biggest infrastructure companies.

Change on the scale we will all experience in the coming years is unprecedented. BT Group is committed to being the driving force behind improving connectivity for millions and there has never been a more exciting time to join a company and leadership team with the skills, experience, creativity, and passion to take this company into a new era.
