About the role

The Capability Delivery Excellence (DEx) Lead translates DEx objectives into day‑to‑day behaviours within the capability, ensuring standards are adopted, status is accurate, and issues are managed early. This role acts as the dedicated point of alignment between the Delivery Performance, Digital capability PMO and (as appropriate) the Demand CFU PMO—eliminating data gaps and misaligned narratives and surfacing insights that power Delivery Performance’s aggregate improvement agenda.
This role is part of the DEx Leadership Team to set and own processes and governance, influencing and partnering with their associated Digital unit to drive an accurate, “no surprises” view of the Digital delivery portfolio for the CDO, converting governance insights into targeted interventions and continuous improvement that raises delivery maturity across all capabilities.

What you’ll be doing

Capability Governance
• Work alongside the DEx Lead in capability governance, leading the adoption of standard metrics, dashboards and templates; ensures on‑time, accurate reporting across all delivery teams within the aligned Digital capability.
Coaching and Standards Adoption
• Coaches delivery managers on plans, metrics, risk/issue management, and status discipline.
• Drives adoption of Digital standards, One Engineering, standard platforms/tools and training.
Intervention Support
• Identifies at‑risk deliveries early; co‑creates corrective actions with accountable leads; owns Delivery Performance‑led interventions where required.
Continuous Improvement Feedback and Implementation
• Captures emerging good practices and systemic blockers; feeds insights and data into DEx Lead, CI Program Lead, and Standards/QA for improvement.
PMO Alignment
• Builds strong working rhythm with Digital capability PMO and Demand CFU PMO.
• Aligns RAID, dependencies, milestones, scope/budget variance, and delivery confidence.
• Proactively ensures alignment between Demand‑facing and Digital‑facing reports.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Portfolio governance and PMO literacy to constructively assess status.
• Coaching and influence without authority; pragmatic problem‑solving.
• Knowledge of delivery methodologies and associated tooling, (Six Sigma, CMMI, etc) ,DevOps, engineering metrics and delivery economics (e.g., cost per feature, flow efficiency).
• Data confidence (metrics quality, trend analysis, forecasting).
• Strong stakeholder management across Demand and Digital.
• Domain fluency within the business line.
• Delivery expertise with an "ownership" mindset across complex implementations.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• 10+ years in programme/project/portfolio Delivery within a relevant capability.
• Proven experience partnering with PMO (status, RAID, financials, dependencies).
• Track record of coaching teams and improving delivery behaviours.
• Familiarity with ADO/Jira, portfolio dashboards (Power BI), and metrics frameworks.
• Consulting skills & experience.
• Certification in SAFe, industry standard methodology or equivalent.
