About the role

We're looking for a Vulnerability Management Security Engineer to join our Security team within Networks.

Cyber security is critical to protecting BT's networks, products, services and data. In this role, you'll play a key part in helping us identify, understand and reduce cyber security risks across a complex technology environment.

Working with engineering, infrastructure, cloud and security teams, you'll use vulnerability management tools and data to drive meaningful risk reduction. You'll investigate vulnerabilities, support remediation activities, improve processes and help evolve our vulnerability management capabilities through automation, reporting and continuous improvement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving, working with technology stakeholders and building expertise in enterprise-scale security operations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting and improving BT's enterprise vulnerability management capability.
  • Working with vulnerability management platforms, including Qualys and similar technologies.
  • Partnering with technical teams to identify, prioritise and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Producing dashboards, reports and actionable insights that support risk-based decision making.
  • Investigating findings, validating vulnerabilities and advising on remediation or mitigation approaches.
  • Improving processes, controls and automation to enhance security outcomes.
  • Sharing knowledge and guidance with stakeholders across the business.
  • Collaborating with vendors and engineering teams to implement new capabilities and improvements.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience in vulnerability management, security engineering or a related security discipline.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux environments and associated security risks.
  • Experience using vulnerability management platforms such as Qualys, Tenable or Rapid7.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and practical way.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience with Qualys VMDR, CSAM, Patch Management, Policy Compliance or related modules.
  • Creating dashboards, reports, queries or automation.
  • Cloud, container or application security knowledge.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks, standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within a large enterprise environment.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career in cyber security, including:

  • Deep expertise in enterprise vulnerability management and Qualys technologies.
  • Experience developing automation and security engineering capabilities.
  • Exposure to Windows, Linux, cloud and container security.
  • Opportunities to influence security improvements across a large technology estate.
  • Broader experience of security tooling, integrations and risk management.

We're interested in people who are passionate about security and problem solving. If you meet some, but not all, of the requirements below, we'd still love to hear from you.
