Job Title: Supplier & Capability Commercial Specialist

Career Grade: D

Location: London, Cheltenham, Ipswich (Adastral Park) or Manchester.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role. KZA268

Why this job matters:

You will drive the commercial management of key strategic suppliers, partners and vendors that are at the heart of a specialist security team. Not only that, you will deliver the commercials for our repeatable capabilities ensuring costs are understood at the customer contract level and we can drive the right value from such capabilities through the contract themselves. This role focusses on supplier relationships, cost optimisation, commercial ownership, and process improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage strategic partnerships with key suppliers and partners, driving vendors in efforts to continuously improve overall efficiency and costs. Where appropriate this will involve working with wider BT Procurement.
  • Manage the relationship, contract, and commercials with key sub-contractors, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and transparency.
  • Deliver due diligence on our key suppliers as required by wider BT Procurement teams to ensure our supply chain remains in line with our ethics and sustainability values.
  • Own and deliver the commercial design of our repeatable capabilities delivered from our Technology Services team. This includes cost management, allocation, cost transformation and ensuring the right value is achieved through customer uptake.
  • Specifically own our relationship with our hyperscale cloud providers - AWS and Google Cloud. This will include driving the relationship, agreements, cost allocation, supplier payments and commercial transparency to ensure correct information is sent to our billing teams.
  • Provide strategic direction to GSS Procurement team, ensuring quoting and ordering is from the right supplier, at the right cost and we can set the right onward price – working with Client Partnership and Contract Managers.
  • Implements ways to improve working processes within the area of suppliers and vendors.

  • Have experience in supplier management, procurement or contract management.

  • Have an enquiring mind, thirst for knowledge and willingness to learn.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Office programmes such as Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

The role is also subject to you gaining and keeping the necessary level of security clearance needed to undertake your work. The result of the security clearance vetting is not subject to appeal. Failure to successfully achieve and maintain the necessary level of security clearance may see any offer of employment with BT cease or withdrawn or may cause a role change or possibly lead to termination of employment.
