TUFLOW (www.tuflow.com) is internationally recognised as the industry leader for hydraulic and environmental modelling accuracy, speed, and workflow efficiency. Due to TUFLOW’s strong growth we have new roles offering a rare and unique opportunity to join our esteemed and dynamic team of engineers and scientists. The TUFLOW software team within BMT comprises about 20 people led by industry leader and hydraulic modelling expert, Bill Syme. Staff are based in Australia, UK and USA, along with a network of global resellers. This diverse and high-performing team offers an exciting mix of world-leading scientific software research and development, customer training and support, and technical sales/marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated technical engineer/scientist to join the TUFLOW software team’s operations. The role will involve:

  • Assisting with software testing and benchmarking, including pre-release testing of new concepts and software features in flood, urban drainage, and pipe network modelling.

  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of TUFLOW, associated systems and hydraulic modelling processes.

  • Contributing to TUFLOW user support and educational activities, including user queries and TUFLOW Wiki content.

  • Working with TUFLOW customers to ensure a positive user experience.

  • Participate in our continual enhancement of TUFLOW software products and encapsulation of consulting/industry needs, by regularly liaising with TUFLOW’s software developers.

  • Assisting with TUFLOW training courses and workshops. This may require travel within Australia and internationally.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or other relevant area of study with an enthusiasm in hydraulic modelling.

  • 2 to 8 years’ experience post-graduation in hydraulic modelling for flood and urban drainage risk management preferably using TUFLOW.

  • Team player with a good balance of interpersonal and technical skills.

  • Customer facing attitude and ability to operate within a team and independently.

  • Desire to help others through aiding, training, and presenting to individuals and small groups.

  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) particularly QGIS, ArcMap and/or MapInfo.

  • Desire to gain knowledge and understanding in hydraulic modelling for flooding and coastal processes.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates initiative and takes a proactive approach to tasks.

Location

BMT is a Global Employer with offices in APAC, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and North America. This role is suitable for someone based in Australia or England with the applicable working rights and ability to travel to the office when necessary.
