Job Title: Principal Nuclear Facility Safety Engineering Consultant

Contract Type: Permanent

Flexibility: This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Location: In terms of location, we have offices in Bath, Bristol, Fareham, Glasgow, Plymouth, Weymouth, London and Teddington, and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites (Aldermaston, Reading) or to attend meetings will be required.

This role will require Security Clearance, to be eligible you must be a British born sole national and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

About The Role

We are looking for experienced Nuclear Facility Safety Consultants who have a strong track record in leading the development of civil and/or defence nuclear safety cases. As we continue to grow our Safety Engineering Capability, we require a Principal Nuclear Facility Safety Engineering Consultant to provide outstanding solutions for our varied nuclear clients. The role will help to shape and expand this area of our business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide the technical aspects involved in planning and producing nuclear safety documentation
  • Deliver nuclear safety assessments and related technical documents in line with customer requirements
  • Develop nuclear safety requirements and demonstrate compliance with them Support periodic safety reviews for complex systems and facilities
  • Work collaboratively with clients and partner organisations
  • Provide leadership and line management to junior team members, fostering their development and performance



About You


We welcome applications from enthusiastic and dynamic individuals with:

  • A degree with honours (or equivalent) in science, engineering, or a related field, or comparable professional experience
  • Proven experience in preparing, facilitating, and documenting safety cases and hazard studies for nuclear facilities
  • Previous work within nuclear licensed or authorised sites
  • Experience offering guidance on nuclear and process engineering matters
  • Familiarity with a range of safety assessment methodologies
  • Professional membership of a relevant chartered institution
  • Understanding of Nuclear Authorising and/or Licensing Conditions
