It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for ensuring the proper operation, technical oversight, development, and availability of industrial camera-based and visual inspection systems (Vision / Machine Vision systems) used across the manufacturing areas of the plant.

A key responsibility is the troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of camera-based inspection systems, including the technical support of cameras, optics, lighting, image processing solutions, inspection algorithms, and related automation interfaces.

Provides technical support for process improvement, quality enhancement, harmonization, capacity expansion, and scrap reduction initiatives, as well as product and technology transfers.

Participates in the implementation of new technologies and equipment, with particular focus on the specification, design, validation, and optimization of Vision systems. Initiates and executes improvement projects to enhance the reliability of visual inspections, process efficiency, and product quality.

Responsibilities

Vision / Machine Vision Systems

  • Develop and maintain in-depth technical expertise in the camera-based and visual inspection systems used within the plant.
  • Provide continuous technical support and oversight for the operation of Vision systems.
  • Perform setup, optimization, and troubleshooting of cameras, optics, lighting, image processing solutions, and Vision system parameters.
  • Improve the stability and reliability of visual inspections, with a focus on reducing false rejects and false accepts.
  • Support root cause analysis of Vision system-related issues and define appropriate corrective actions.
  • Improve existing camera-based inspection systems and identify, evaluate, and support the implementation of new Machine Vision technologies and solutions.
  • Actively participate in the installation, commissioning, testing, and validation of Vision systems for new equipment.

Automation and Technical Support

  • Provide technical support for PLC, HMI, robotic, and other automation systems.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues related to automation systems and the implementation of system improvements.

Documentation and Competency Development

  • Manage required technical documentation, specifications, and system access permissions.
  • Support technical competency development and training across Production, Engineering, and Maintenance functions.

Maintenance and Reliability

  • Monitor the effectiveness of maintenance activities and support the elimination of recurring technical issues.
  • Provide technical support for component- and supplier-related issues.

Change Management and Validation

  • Provide technical support for and follow up on changes affecting automation and Vision systems.
  • Support the planning, execution, and documentation of related validation activities.

Process Performance and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical support to achieve production, quality, and reliability targets.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and execute projects to enhance process efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing/production environment, preferably within a multinational company.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial Vision / Machine Vision systems, particularly in operation, setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Practical experience in imaging, image processing, cameras, optics, and lighting solutions used in camera-based inspection systems, including their application and optimization.
  • Ability to systematically analyze Vision system failures, identify root causes, and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Technical knowledge of PLC, HMI, electrical, or robotic systems, combined with practical troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in process improvement and efficiency enhancement activities.
  • Strong analytical, process-oriented, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Good working proficiency in English.
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of industrial IT systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Keyence, Cognex, or Dalsa industrial Vision systems and/or LabVIEW, including configuration, programming, troubleshooting, or optimization.
  • Programming or scripting knowledge, particularly in image processing or automation applications.
  • Basic knowledge of machine safety and industrial automation.
  • Experience in technical collaboration with external suppliers, machine builders, and system integrators.
  • Experience in a high-speed, automated manufacturing environment.
