Job Title: Technology Procurement Lead

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, 2-3 days per week onsite with flexibility for more pending business needs

Job Description:

You will represent the technology category management team in developing, coordinating, and delivering procurement plans. You will act as the primary interface between major projects and programmes of the Submarines Business Unit and the wider technology procurement team, ensuring alignment across all project needs. A central part of the role involves working closely with stakeholders across a complex organisational landscape to create value by interpreting technology roadmaps, understanding business requirements, and shaping effective procurement strategies that support long‑term business objectives.

Core duties:

  • Help drive value by supporting project requirements definition, support procurement pipeline planning, as well as the sharing of IT market/supplier intelligence and supplier performance data available from the wider team to meet the operational needs of the business
  • Act as an entry point into the Technology Procurement team, responsible for triaging requirements and capturing/managing demand. In turn, being responsible for determining which projects the procurement team support and to what level
  • Ensure adherence to internal governance requirements, including relevant policies and procedures to support effective and compliant project delivery
  • Facilitate the delivery of requirements by working closely with the wider IPS technology team, managing escalations, and providing regular progress updates to project stakeholders
  • Integrate with key stakeholders and technology category leads to spot value opportunities through early Procurement engagement, while maintaining procurement plans that meet business needs and ensure all technology partners are on contract and not operating at risk

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in managing technology procurement, specialising in high‑value, complex sourcing of outsourced services, project services, infrastructure, and hardware
  • Experience in creating and managing procurement/sourcing plans ideally in a complex and/or technology environment
  • Proven experience operating within complex project environments, effectively managing diverse stakeholder networks, meeting demanding deadlines, and applying strong commercial acumen to ensure decisions align with organisational value and strategic outcomes
  • Excellent analytical abilities for evaluating supplier performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities
