Role Description

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing critical enterprise infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys working across a broad technology landscape, including Windows and Linux servers, networking, virtualisation, cyber security, automation, storage, and monitoring platforms. You’ll thrive in a complex, mission-critical environment where reliability, security, and continuous improvement are paramount.

As part of a highly skilled team, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of a hybrid infrastructure environment while contributing to ongoing modernisation and automation initiatives. You are a problem-solver with strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple domains. You enjoy troubleshooting complex issues and continuously improving systems and processes.

Core Duties:

  • Design, administer, and support enterprise infrastructure, including Active Directory, identity, and authentication services.
  • Manage Group Policy, endpoint management, and patching activities across the environment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including Cisco technologies, VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security events using Splunk, SIEM platforms, and industry best practices.
  • Support and optimise VMware ESXi and vCenter environments, including performance tuning, resilience, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Manage physical infrastructure, including servers, hardware, cabling, and power and cooling systems.
  • Administer enterprise storage and backup solutions, including SAN/NAS technologies, RAID configurations, and Veeam or equivalent products.
  • Support and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including Active Directory integration, hardening, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  • Implement and enhance monitoring and observability platforms, providing dashboards, reporting, and root cause analysis.
  • Administer and support Atlassian tools, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance security, operational efficiency, and system reliability.

About YOU

You are a technically versatile and solutions-focused professional with a passion for infrastructure, automation, and operational excellence. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and working in environments where security and reliability are essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong experience across Windows Server, AD, and Group Policy
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux environments, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux expertise considered highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux system hardening, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Solid networking knowledge with Cisco technologies
  • Hands-on experience with VMware environments
  • Proven experience with Splunk or SIEM platforms
  • Exposure to Atlassian ecosystem
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud or Azure-hosted Linux workloads is desirable
  • Experience working within Defence or highly regulated security environments is advantageous
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain NV2 Defence Security Clearance
  • Eligibility to comply with International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
