Role Description

As a Systems Administrator, you will be a key technical resource within Infrastructure Operations – Enterprise Services. You will work through rotations focusing on providing support, sustainment, delivery and administration of core infrastructure systems. This will include Linux Server (RedHat, OEL), hyper-converged platforms, fibre channel storage, and data protection operations.

The System Administrator is responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure services, ensuring incidents and service requests are resolved efficiently and within agreed timeframes. The role supports Linux environments, while improving service performance through automation, process improvement, and effective documentation. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the System Administrator helps deliver reliable, secure, and compliant infrastructure services that meet business and customer needs.

Core Duties:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and optimise Linux server environments to ensure system reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Monitor infrastructure and application health, proactively identifying and resolving incidents, performance issues, and system risks.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, system hardening practices, patches, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance solutions using automation tools such as Satellite, Ansible.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure platforms, including Dell VxRail, PowerStore, PowerScale, Commvault Simpana, Oracle Linux Enterprise, Oracle KVM, bare-metal servers, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
  • Contribute to containerisation and orchestration initiatives, supporting the deployment, management, and future roadmap of container platforms.
  • Implement and manage monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure the ongoing health, availability, and performance of systems and services.
  • Conduct incident diagnosis, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Support security and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to organisational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Share technical knowledge, mentor team members where appropriate, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the infrastructure environment.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, technology upgrades, and lifecycle management activities to support business growth and operational excellence.

About YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience in a similar Systems Administration role with strong expertise in Linux distributions (e.g. OEL, RedHat Satellite)
  • Experience in managing VMware platforms including VSAN/ HCI
  • Proficiency in Automation and scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, SCCM)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance.
