Role Description:

As the Sustainment Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and delivering sustainment activities, maintaining effective customer relationships, achieving project performance objectives and driving continuous improvement across sustainment products and services.

Core Duties:

  • Lead and deliver sustainment projects, acting as the primary point of contact for customers and ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Build strong customer and stakeholder relationships, providing responsive support and practical solutions.
  • Manage project planning, forecasting, budgets and performance to achieve schedule, cost and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, manufacturing and service centre teams to deliver effective sustainment and product support solutions.
  • Prepare proposals, scope work and identify opportunities to enhance customer outcomes and support business growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across sustainment services, processes and ways of working.
  • Support project governance, risk management and reporting while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management, Sustainment, Asset Management, Engineering, Defence, Manufacturing or another complex operational environment.
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and engage confidently with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial and project delivery skills, including planning, forecasting, budgeting and performance management.
  • Ability to work across technical and operational teams to solve problems, manage competing priorities and drive outcomes.
  • Understanding of sustainment, maintenance, product support or through-life support activities will be highly regarded.
  • Experience with asset management or maintenance management systems (e.g. Maximo) is advantageous.
  • Project Management qualifications or equivalent practical project delivery experience.
  • Defence industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

The Defence Sustainment and Solutions (DSS) Team deliver specialised sustainment services and products that optimise performance, extend asset longevity, and ensure the operational readiness of the Australian Defence Force, National Security, and their coalition partners.
