Location: Barrow (Cumbria). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site up to 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £25,900 (pro-rata)

Role description

Within the Power Engineering function, you will contribute to the design, development, testing and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems that support complex submarine programmes. Working across hardware and software environments, you will gain exposure to the full engineering lifecycle, from concept development and modelling through to integration, verification and in-service support. You will help deliver engineering solutions, support engineering processes and contribute to the development of new technologies while working with multidisciplinary teams.

Core duties

• Support the design, testing and maintenance of electrical and electronic power systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues and assist with fault finding and performance investigations.
• Create and use simulations to model, analyse and improve power system designs.
• Conduct laboratory testing of hardware and software, capturing and analysing data.
• Evaluate new electrical components and technologies for safe integration into systems.
• Prepare technical reports and collaborate with engineers, technicians and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or Electro-mechanical Engineering degrees with significant Power Engineering content/modules.
