Role Description
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our team supporting Integrated Defence & Autonomous Systems in Richmond/Canberra. Reporting to the Software Engineering Team Lead, you will play a key role in the analysis, design, development, maintenance, and support of high-fidelity operational analysis tools.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative environment, contributing to the ongoing reliability, performance, and enhancement of solutions. You will work closely with internal teams and customer stakeholders to investigate issues, implement improvements, and deliver high-quality software outcomes.
Core Duties:
- Analyse, design, develop, maintain, and unit test software applications and systems.
- Investigate, estimate, rectify, and resolve assigned incidents and Change Requests (CRs) within agreed timeframes.
- Proactively provide status update information to relevant stakeholder – supervisors and/or project manager.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, maintenance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Provide practical and efficient analysis, design, and testing activities for new software requirements.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of integration and testing activities.
- Ensure software engineering solutions meet all required technical objectives, standards, and customer requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with team members and customer representatives.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence.
About YOU
- Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline.
- A background in Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field will be viewed favourably.
- Hands-on experience developing software solutions using C++ and/or Java.
- Exposure to modelling, simulation, and complex systems environments, particularly within defence, radar, maritime, aerospace, or similar industries will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of software design principles, and best-practice development methodologies.
- Experience applying testing frameworks and maintaining robust unit test coverage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
