Senior SHE Advisor (Safety, Health & Environment)

Job Location: This role is based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, Adelaide.

Role Description:

This role is accountable to the SHE Lead and supports the line of business Leadership Team through the provision of co-ordination, maintenance and assurance activities and specialist advice aligned to the organisations’ SHE principles and practice to continually improve our safety, health and environment performance and meet legal obligations.

Core Duties:

  • Participate, collaborate and consult with leaders and teams to ensure they are engaged and aligned to SHE strategic priorities, and have the right tools to do their job, confidence and ability to manage safe, health and environmental obligations and risks.
  • Deliver sustainable SHE risk reduction programs that identify risk mitigation opportunities and support continuous improvement.
  • Develop relationships with middle to senior management, SHE professionals and practitioners to create/influence SHE-related process, objectives and strategy and to act as a change agent to support improvement in SHE.
  • Lead, support and direct staff to achieve business outcomes.
  • Support and monitor the implementation, review and continuously develop BAE Systems SHE management system including risk assessments and controls.
  • Establish and facilitate systematic approaches to hazard identification and risk assessments directed towards asset and operational lifecycle.
  • Manage site safety, health and environmental event response and reporting procedures concerning significant hazards, injuries, incidents to ensure accurate and timely response and data analysis.
  • Provide SHE advice for the facility, line of business and/or region in relation to SHE legislation and standards.

About You

  • Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (Essential).
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous people leader experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in SHE in a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks and governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice at middle to senior management level on high risk/impact matters.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Safety or related discipline (Essential).
  • Lead ICAM Investigator.
