Senior SHE Advisor (Safety, Health & Environment)

Job Location: This role is based at Melbourne Central Office.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Head of SHE, Government & Assurance, as the SHE Management Systems Lead, you will take responsibility for developing and maturing our SHE management systems and programs, with consideration of best practice and operational needs of the business, providing the business with the tools to support compliant safe systems of work.

Core Duties:

  • Implement the business SHE Safety Management System Strategy to continually refine and provide fit for purpose documented SHE processes, tools and training.
  • Develop the documented business SHE management system with a specific focus on effective, simple and easy to understand processes aligned to BAE, Legislative & ISO45001 & ISO14001 standard requirements.
  • Liaise with the broader BAE Systems Australia and Industry partners to benchmark best practise risk methodologies and share learnings.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader SHE team across BAE Systems Australia to deliver and embed business wide initiatives and processes.
  • Support leadership to deploy a “Safety First” approach and culture, which protects the health and safety of all our employees, contractors, partners and the customer.
  • Understand the wider organisational and business environment and the impact on management of SHE risks, and impact an effective SHE management system in managing these risks.

About You

  • Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (essential).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience in SHE in a similar role operating in a large, complex organisation in a high risk work environment (i.e. mining, construction, manufacturing) undertaking the development/refinement and implementation of SHE management systems and risk management frameworks certified to ISO45001 and ISO1400.
  • A very high attention to detail, excellent time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice to middle or senior management level on high risk/ impact matters.
  • Knowledge and strong understanding of relevant WHS legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks and governance requirements.
  • Strong experience in all Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Bachelors Degree in a SHE related discipline.
  • Lead ICAM Investigator (or similar required).
