Job Description:

You will be providing competent Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) advice and assurance across Facilities Management operations within BAE Systems Shared Services. The role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, company SHE standards, and promotes a proactive safety culture across multiple sites.

Core duties:

• Compliance & Governance: Ensure FM operations comply with UK SHE legislation, BAE Systems Operational Framework, and ISO standards (ISO45001, ISO14001)
• Risk Management: Conduct and review risk assessments for FM activities and support implementation of control measures
• Audits & Assurance: Plan and execute SHE audits and inspections across regional FM sites, reporting findings and tracking corrective actions
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and non-conformances, producing root cause analysis and preventive actions
• Contractor Management: Ensure contractors adhere to SHE requirements and review risk assessments/method statements
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the regional SHE point of contact for FM operations, liaising with internal and external stakeholders
• Training & Culture: Deliver SHE training and toolbox talks, promoting continuous improvement and positive SHE behaviours
• Data & Reporting: Monitor SHE performance metrics and provide reports to FM leadership and governance boards

Essential Skills:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or Equivalent Qualification
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of applying UK SHE legislation and ISO standards
• Auditing and investigation skills and/ or qualification
• Experience in Facilities Management or similar environment
• Relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical experience in the management of asbestos, legionella and fire safety compliance, with the ability to provide assurance of legal, regulatory and organisational requirements
• Willingness to travel regionally

The SHE Team:

Working within a small team providing SHE support to the provision of Facilities Management services by Shared Services. The role will work closely with colleagues in both Shared Services, our partners in the supply chain and the wider business.

You will have excellent exposure to all areas of BAE Systems, providing a varied and rewarding workload which contributes directly to providing the high standard of facilities required by BAE Systems to deliver it’s services. You will have the chance to influence across the SHE and Facilities Management team and support the continual improvement of the Shared Services strategy for SHE operations
