Job title: Senior Project Accountant

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provision of experienced financial support to Project Accounting by building and maintaining effective relationships and ensuring robust financial challenge and control
  • Provision of accurate financial information and advice to a project or group of projects on a timely basis to enable effective decision-making
  • Provision of financial support and advice to customers and stakeholders
  • Supervise, maintain and operate financial systems and processes in a constantly changing environment
  • Resolve problems to ensure development/production timescales are met across projects
  • Provide cover for day-to-day aspects of manager’s role
  • Continual improvement of procedures and working practices
  • Input and approve journal vouchers
  • Coaching non-finance employees on related matters

Your skills and experiences:

  • Project Accounting experience – fully qualified
  • Knowledge of MoD Accounting/Contracting requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of Project Lifecycle Management (LCM) Process
  • Business Systems experience (SAP/Budget, Planning & Consolidation)
  • Finance governance requirements including financial control framework

The Project Finance team:

The Project Finance Team plays a critical role in delivering high-quality financial oversight and support to the broader programme. The team ensures strong financial governance by implementing effective processes, conducting detailed analysis of data, and maintaining clear communication across departments. A Senior Accountant is a key member of this team, responsible for providing expert financial input and project accounting support to enhance the performance and delivery of finance operations
