Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Capability Development (Shop Floor Manager)

Location: Samlesbury, full time onsite

Job Description:

Working within our Manufacturing Engineering Function, you will have the opportunity to influence and define manufacturing engineering standards for foreseeable future. You will contribute to a strategically significant programme, engaging with stakeholders across the business to support the successful delivery of enhanced operational capability.

The position involves close collaboration with third‑party consultants and toolset vendors, providing valuable exposure to industry best practice. You will be supporting the transition from the ageing SAPCAMS toolset to a modern, robust, and future‑focused solution that strengthens our manufacturing processes and underpins long‑term operational excellence.

Core duties:

  • Supporting the project working to replace the aging SAPCAMS toolset with new and improved capability
  • Being the responsible person and point of contact for capability development within the project on the topic of shop-floor capability, i.e operator and supervisor interfaces, work scheduling and reporting, machine interfaces, and internet of things (IoT)
  • Critically analysing processes and toolset capability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Defining end-to-end business processes for creation and use of digital manufacturing data across the Air Sector
  • Defining training requirements and supporting capability deployment into the business
  • Supporting the migration of data for existing projects onto new toolsets
  • Managing own work scope within the boundaries of the project objectives and providing updates to the wider team

Essential Skills:

  • You’ll bring significant experience within a manufacturing discipline
  • You’ll demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • You’ll have experience of managing business change projects
  • You’ll possess knowledge of future manufacturing principles such as Industry 4.0.
  • You’ll be confident in computer literacy, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • You’ll have hands on shop floor experience as an operator, supervisor, or supporting service
  • You’ll bring Knowledge and experience of the SAPCAMS toolset

The Manufacturing Engineering Processes (MEP) Team:

Working within the central Manufacturing Engineering function on replacement of the SAPCAMS toolset, with specific focus and ownership of shop-floor digital capability. Supporting capability evaluation, development, and deployment for current and future Air Sector products.
