Job Title: Senior Compliance Officer – Export Control

Location: Rochester – Onsite

Salary: £40,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

The role serves as the primary expert for Export Control compliance, providing daily guidance on regulations, procedures, and authorisation requirements, including direct engagement with regulatory bodies. It oversees internal and external audits, leads investigations, prepares disclosure letters, and drives corrective actions through root‑cause analysis and lessons‑learned activities. The position develops and delivers compliance training, updates policies, and supports the integration of export‑control protocols within site transformation initiatives. Additionally, it includes supervising and developing junior team members, ensuring stable capability and consistent adherence to compliance standards across the organisation.

Core duties:

  • You will have an understanding of US and/or UK Export Controls and a willingness to expand your expertise to become an SME in this area.
  • You will have Investigative and probing skills when conducting investigations, ensuring accurate results are concluded & recorded in a timely manner, and clear root cause(s) identified
  • You will have excellent communication skills to relay regulatory requirements into the business at all levels and the ability to engage at numerous levels within the organisation and ensure interaction with team, Customers, Suppliers and external auditors
  • It is also desirable you will have a working knowledge of UK and US export regulations and exposure to complex export audits with internal and external auditors.

The Compliance Team:

The team will work with numerous business functions to provide day-to-day guidance on compliance issues, with particular emphasis on meeting UK & US Export Control regulations and appropriate corporate/local policies. Within the Compliance Team you will collaborate to seek and introduce best practice and drive compliance related continuous improvement initiatives.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
