JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

This is a new KSA team that is being established to support the tactical and strategic asset management strategy of Keep on Wing, Keep on Base, Keep in Kingdom through e.g. improved maintenance, reliability enhancements, modifications, maintenance policy changes, etc that will enable us to improve performance (predominantly the aircraft availability KPM’s) and sustain our future SSS Ph4 performance levels

The Asset Suppression Specialist based in Taif, will support the Asset Suppression Team Leader to manage and control an asset whilst in the operational environment is optimised, and where possible identify maintenance and associated solutions, efficiencies and mitigations to reduce individual asset criticality and maintain/increase aircraft availability.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the Asset Suppression Team Leader in providing the necessary support to the RSAF fleet by ensuring that the maintenance processes are fully optimised to reduce criticality and increase/sustain availability.
  • Identify, develop and project manage the implementation of strategic maintenance and associated engineering solutions to reduce individual asset criticality and preserve availability where required and to tangibly improve asset performance and platform availability.
  • Compliance to local SHE plans reporting on hazardous occurrences including accident /incident collation and reporting.
  • Build and maintain a constructive and trusting relationship with all stakeholders including the RSAF Customer, MODSAP, PC teams and the Typhoon core programme personnel providing and discharging the tactical and strategic integration activities, mitigation activities and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provision of frequent reporting to support findings, status, achievements and performance indicators for the various levels of stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Asset Suppression Team Leader for all Taif Operational & Management Reviews.
  • Where required support on-going Engineering and Life Cycle Management activities including the definition of engineering change and capability insertion and promotion of Learning from Experience (LfE) to future contract negotiations.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

This role will require clearly demonstrated Maintenance, Project and Business Management capability and the ability to work closely with customers, suppliers and project teams. The individual will be required to demonstrate the ability to manage interfaces across multiple boundaries with the following prior experience:

  • Experience in delivering on continuous improvement activities in an Aerospace environment
  • Experience of Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering Standards along with change management
  • Typhoon or other Fast Jet maintenance qualifications. Avionic / Mechanical Apprenticeship / “Q” Annotation(s)
  • In depth working Knowledge of maintenance support systems ESS, IMS and trilogiView
  • Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Experience and knowledge of the engineering life cycle
  • Knowledge of supply chain logistics

The typical level of competencies that should be demonstrated are:

  • Team building skills for effective people management including PC staff and interfacing organisations (RSAF and MODSAP)
  • Networking and communication skills used at all levels within an organisation
  • High level of interpersonal skills to co-ordinate a large number of diverse activities

RECRUITMENT

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in a fast jet performance-based support contract, with particular emphasis on Operational Support, with the following essential skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft engineering, maintenance and support standards
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a fast jet operations support environment
  • Knowledge of the Typhoon aircraft, from a maintenance, support and design perspective
  • Previous experience of working with the RSAF and/or the RAF.
  • Knowledge and network base across both the BAESYSTEMS Saudi Arabia organisation and the wider UK support organisations.
  • Experience of wide stakeholder management within both the MODSAP and RSAF organisations
