Role Description:

We have an exciting multiple opportunities for a Quality Control Inspectors within our Maritime Sustainment team in Osborne, SA initially for a one-year fixed term contract with the potential to convert to permanent role.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed within designated Maritime Sustainment program is compliant with engineering drawings, workmanship standards and specifications.

In addition, you will be required to deliver a broad range of planned quality assurance/control activities designed to give management confidence that quality processes are being consistently and effectively applied across the project and the wider line of business. Your work will help ensure that quality is embedded, monitored, and continuously improved throughout all stages of maintenance.

Core Duties:

  • Conduct daily surveillance/visual inspections to ensure that all work complies in accordance with approved work orders, codes, standards and specifications
  • Gather objective evidence to confirm the build aligns with design requirements and confirm all required maintenance activities are completed
  • Deliver informal training to Supervisors and Team Leads on workmanship standards and expectations
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of quality practices and adhere to the code of conduct
  • Review and monitor all quality records required (work packs, manufacturer’s data reports, mandatory planned maintenance items, Closing Reports and Task Progress Completion Certificates (TPCCs)) to ensure acceptance by the customer
  • Provide quality support and guidance to other departments while helping to create a team culture through open communication and working together to problem solve creating a good quality culture
  • Mentor and coach production staff and suppliers on the required level of workmanship as defined by the products drawings, specifications, standards and policies fostering a “right first time” culture

About You

  • Tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in the Mechanical / Electrical & General Quality discipline(s)
  • Certified Coating Inspector, holding NACE CIP Level 2, FROSIO Level 3, or an equivalent qualification
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, as well as Defence and Civil Technical Regulatory requirements (desirable)
  • Maritime / Ship building or Maintenance experience (highly desirable)
  • Solid understanding of quality practices and continuous improvement principles (desirable)
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance
  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel, Word and Visio
