Accountabilities:

· The Project Manager is responsible to the LTEWP Programme Manager for defining, planning, managing and delivering the project to meet both customer and business requirements. The Job Holder will be responsible for managing all aspects of the design, construction, testing and commissioning and Handover of the project to cost, time and quality.

· The key aspect of this role will focus on the delivery of Typhoon Electronic Warfare Support, operating closely with and providing expert leadership to other functional areas to ensure that the total capability delivered is fit for purpose.

· The delivery of this role will typically be through the management of a small team of PM Professionals or is delivered as an individual contributor with subject matter expertise in a key PM discipline.

· The Job Holder will ensure that all aspects of the project are fully defined to ensure customer requirements are achieved in accordance with all business and commercial criteria, as well as company policies and procedures. In doing so the PM will develop and maintain project plans and budgets which will deliver to customer and business needs, ensuring that these plans are consistent with overall programme needs, and that specific deadlines and milestones are agreed and communicated to all parties involved.

· The Job Holder will manage, control and monitor the project so that it is delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements, regularly reviewing and reporting on progress against plan and, where necessary, intervening to resolve issues which threaten delivery to plan. To achieve this it will be necessary to ensure that the project adheres to all policies and procedures and that they are carried out in such a way as to minimise risk and maximise opportunities.

· The Job Holder will need to manage the project to ensure that the project achieves all its objectives especially assigned relationships with major suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure all contracts are delivered and that issues are effectively addressed. To undertake this role, the PM will need to ensure the project team possesses the required resources and capabilities to effectively deliver the project in line with all requirements and that staff are led, developed and motivated to ensure they are aware of and capable of meeting their accountabilities. To fully achieve this there will be a need to liaise with all functions relevant to the delivery of assigned projects to build an integrated project team and to enable the achievement of project objectives

· The role requires the application of Project Management skills covering the entire project lifecycle. The position is to lead the project by ensuring the technical support through direct and indirect management of the team (both in the UK and KSA) in the delivery of solution. In the Prime Contractorship role, a significant aspect of the job will be the management of interfaces between several sub-contractors with the added complexity of potential significant In Country Industrial Participation and in the case of KSA, Saudisation.

· An important part of the PM role will be to conduct post-project appraisals and ensure “lessons learned” dissemination across other business teams

· The Project Manager will hold the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia delegated Project Management Governance from the Project Management Authority and be responsible for the project team for the application and compliance with the BAE Operational Framework , PM functional processes, including LCM and on all projects and tasks. Specifically Planning, Monitoring and Control; Risk and Opportunity Management, Performance Management particularly Life Cycle Management, Bid Status and Phase and Contract Reviews.

· The post holder will delegate specific authority where appropriate to the Facilities Engineer and other functions of the project team

Core accountabilities:

· Undertake all relevant training and development required of KSA Executive population.

· Understand the IBP and how this impact on business objectives across remits.

· Executive level engagement with Customer and other stakeholders as appropriate with a view to understanding and exceeding requirements and expected levels of service.

· Understand the BAE Systems organisation taking full accountability for remit and operating with the requirements of the wider organisation at heart.

· Subscribe to and participate in the Executive PDR process.

· Display and set an example of the types of behaviours expected of Executive level employees across the business.

· Willing to challenge people inside and outside the organisation in order to act consistently with ethical business practices

· Any duty or accountability required and deemed appropriate at Executive/Managerial level by the business.

Responsibilities:

· Support the LTEWP through all programme aspects relating to the contracts under your responsibility.

· Deliver effective project management through bid, contract mobilisation, delivery and contract closure.

· Maintain a strong and effective control and governance environment for LTEWP.

· Provide bold leadership to both direct reports and the wider programme/project teams.

· Support the coaching and development of all direct reports to support business Saudisation targets.

· Continuous improvement of the practices and policies adopted by the Tornado team to ensure that the TEWS team are discharging their responsibilities in an efficient manner whilst maintaining a strong control environment.

· Must have at least 5 years project management experience and ideally being professionally qualified through either APM or PMI.

· Full security clearance required.

· Specific competencies are an understanding of the BAE Systems LCM policies and the application thereof to projects.

· Key interpersonal skills to support success in the role are leadership, determination, communication and stakeholder management,

· The role covers the day-to-day management of the TEWS project.

· Delegated Authority limits for the role are in line with functional standard DOA

· Key stakeholders with the most frequent interface are the Programme Manager, MASS, Leonardo, Jane, ISE Organisation, the Programme Funding team (BAESSA, MODSAP and RSAF), RSAF HQ and KSAB, and the Project Management Function.

· The role is primarily based in Riyadh but will require occasional travel to Dhahran, Taif, and Suppliers. Estimate 1 UK business trip per year and 24 trips to KSAB.

· Specific toolsets to deliver the role will require a level of competency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, MS Project, and an understanding of the interfaces between the systems, e.g. SAP and IFS.

· The role includes some Customer reporting requirements with support to the TEWS Customer Statement of Work (SOW) and project reviews, and other Customer requested meetings as required.

· The role includes several business reporting requirements. There will be involvement in the DAC & TEWS Programme Manager Review, Supplier Performance Review, and deputising for the PrgM at the Programme Directors Review as required.

· As well as supporting the DAC & TEWS Programme Manager – Weapon & Electronic Warfare, the role requires a level of support to functional initiatives including, development and coaching, Saudisation support, governance/project accounting/financial accounting forum support and development of common processes and procedures supporting continuous improvement of the function.

Job Requirements:

· Significant understanding of the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia business, or an ability to develop this quickly

· Significant political and cultural awareness in areas relating to BAE SYSTEMS business

· Expert networking and communication skills used at a senior level with governments, customers, suppliers, partners and sub-contractors

· Substantial project management experience in a relevant environment

· Responsible in all aspects of the Risk Management process.

· Minimum of 7-12 years of working experience

· Will rounded background of BAE Systems Operational Framework

· The role would typically require a degree in Project Managemet or related discipline.

· APMP Qualification or equivalent is must.

· Understanding the LCM processes.

· Track record of managing a number of major, complex and sensitive projects successfully.

· Expert level planning and scheduling skills, ensuring the complex activities of interrelated project teams are controlled, managed and linked into the overall business plan.

· Expert leadership, delegation and team building skills for the effective people management of large and complex programmes.

· High level problem solving and financial control skills.

· Substantial understanding of commercial, financial and project leadership.

· Expert in project review and control.
