Job Title: Project Manager

What you’ll be doing

  • Interface with customers, sub-contractors and project stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships through regular communication, proposal of opportunities and timely reporting of issues therefore ensuring all deliverables are achieved
  • Controlling and monitoring projects so that they are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements, regularly reviewing and reporting on progress against plan and where necessary, intervening to resolve issues which threaten delivery to plan
  • Ensuring that all aspects of the projects are fully defined to ensure customer requirements are achieved in accordance with all business and commercial criteria
  • Proactively manage emerging risks and opportunities to the benefit of the project/programme
  • Supporting bid and tendering processes to ensure bids meet customer needs, in line with business & commercial criteria that all risks are assessed effectively, and that bids are realistic and winnable
  • Developing accurate estimates in support of bids, annual budgets or cost to completion, and analyse ‘spend to date’ data
  • Management of schedules, including tracking of critical paths and dependencies
  • Produce reporting information on a monthly basis to support business reporting of operational and project progress and issues
  • Support the continuous improvement and development of the ATS Project Management team
  • Working within a multi-disciplined team consisting of engineering, commercial, project management etc., to ensure that both the customers and business requirements are met, whilst ensuring that all commercial aspects are well documented

Your skills and experiences

Essential Skills

  • Degree or equivalent hands on experience in a project management or business-related subject
  • A formal project management qualification or working towards (e.g. APMP, PMQ, PMP or Prince 2)
  • Experience in a complex engineering business. Experience working with Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Project

Desirable:

  • The ability to communicate information and forge trusted relationships across all working levels
  • You will be flexible, well-motivated with good communication skills, have the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines as well as able to plan ahead to foresee potential difficulties

The ATS team

The Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) organisation currently comprises of the Micro and Nano Systems (M&NS) operational group based in Filton, Bristol and the Microwave Materials (MM) business, based in Towcester, Northamptonshire. The role is based out of Towcester.

The Project Manager is required to provide end-to-end management of all assigned projects for the ATS organisation. This encompasses generation of bids and business cases, contract negotiation, robust planning, leadership of programme delivery and management of project closure or transition. Typically, this will involve working on to secure subsequent investment on large multi-phase development programmes.
