Job Title: Project Engineering Manager – Modelling and Simulation

Salary: Up to £69,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide Engineering Management support to the Modelling & Simulation Portfolio Manager to support the development of training systems for use by the Royal Navy (RN)
- Proactively manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and support staff undertaking activities to deliver both system upgrades / updates and in-service support across multiple contracts to meet the programme milestones, within the programme budgets, in compliance with BAE Systems engineering policies and processes
- Prepare / review engineering estimates and schedules relating to engineering developments and bids
- Forecast the required resources on a monthly basis
- Develop and maintain a set of relevant engineering metrics, measurements and analysis
- Reporting Engineering status/issues at Products governance meetings
- Ensure the overarching strategic intent of Maritime Services is followed and applied
- Ensure the roles and responsibilities of the project engineering team are clearly defined
Your skills and experiences:
- A sound knowledge of complex software development and integration, together with some knowledge of IT systems development engineering principles
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively, oversee scheduling, and optimize workflows using people management tools
- Holds CEng or able to achieve in the short term or has equivalent experience

Modelling and Simulation team:
Our organisation consists of around 150 Training Specialists with extensive experience in naval training design, delivery and assurance, primarily for the Royal Navy. The team includes ex‑RN officers, operators and maintainers, alongside specialists from the Army, RAF, MOD, academia and engineering industries. We develop RN training strategy and policy, define requirements, acquire training solutions and assure training across the enterprise
Our systems engineers apply deep Combat Systems expertise to convert operational needs into trainer and training system requirements, supporting procurement and integrated delivery for entry‑into‑service. We operate in line with JSP 822 and JSP 939, delivering complete Training Management and Training Technology solutions across the training lifecycle
We provide agile integration, assurance and validation for new and upgraded equipment and platforms. Using MIMESIS, we deliver high‑fidelity HMI analysis, operability assessment and synthetic experimentation, enabling customers to evaluate new concepts, sensors, weapons and doctrine safely. We also deliver safety‑critical test and assurance for Combat and Weapon Systems and provide synthetic reference rigs for Land Based Test Sites
Our training solutions support world‑class warfare operator development through reconfigurable synthetic environments, scalable from individual training to Carrier and Littoral Strike Group exercises. We are contributing to next‑generation capabilities such as STSC and delivering integrated simulation and training solutions across programmes including USC and ACTS, converging under CSOT. We also recreate realistic sub‑surface command team environments using blended real and simulated systems, supporting tactical evaluation, mission rehearsal and the development of warfare team expertise
