Job Description:
This role supports the end to end engineering lifecycle of complex products, spanning early concept through design, manufacture, trials and in‑service support. It contributes to systems based product development, including work with energetic materials and munitions, while ensuring safety is embedded throughout all activities.
Core duties:
- Support product design and systems engineering for new and legacy products using MBSE tools
- Develop with energetic materials and munitions to support product design and development activities
- Manage product and process design, test, manufacture and evaluation, prioritising safety in all activities
- Plan, manage and execute trials safely, from planning through execution and reporting conclusions
- Apply effective engineering governance across product lifecycles, supporting design reviews from concept to disposal
- Configure and maintain engineering bills of materials for products
- Support generation of costed proposals for external customers
- Manage cross‑functional stakeholders and collaborate to support project and proposal delivery
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrate considerable engineering skills, identifying issues, analysing causes and developing effective technical solutions
- Hold an engineering or relevant STEM qualification, with appropriate academic or professional credentials
- Possess working knowledge of systems engineering, MBSE and engineering design principles
- Proven experience supporting engineering teams and project delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organisational levels
The Artillery Tank & Mortars Team:
Embedded within the Artillery Tank & Mortars team, the role supports project delivery alongside the Portfolio Manager, reporting to the Senior Product Engineer. It ensures appropriate engineering development, robust planning, risk mitigation and execution. Based at Glascoed on a four day hybrid pattern, with occasional travel to customer, manufacturing and test sites.
