Job Title: Principal Manufacturing Engineer – Supply Chain

Location: Barrow-In-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £45,628+ depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will be required to act as manufacturing subject matter expert to support both the wider Supply Chain Resilience Team and our suppliers to develop, drive and deliver through the BCCR programme stages
  • Carry out manufacturing readiness assessments and analysis of a supplier’s capability, capacity and resilience to meet the SSNA drumbeat
  • Typically, assessments could include:

– Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL)

– Design Producibility/ Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA)

– Facilities, Equipment & Tooling

– Make Vs Buy

– Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling

– Manufacturing Process Maturity

– Process Capability & Control

  • Support suppliers in development of manufacturing optimisation plans
  • Validate suppliers proposed manufacturing opportunities
  • Support development of plans for the long-term management and monitoring of supplier optimisation, enabling confidence reporting on the ability of the supply chain to maintain build rate for SSNA

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proven background in either Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar
  • Experience of setting up lean production lines, optimising product flow and continuous improvement
  • Experience in assessing Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL)

Desirable:

  • Degree qualified in a STEM subject
  • Knowledge of Project Management toolsets
  • An understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and its relationship to manufacturing readiness
  • Understanding of Life Cycle Management and required manufacturing Inputs

The BCCR team:

This is an exciting and early opportunity to support the dynamic Supply Chain Resilience team. We work within the wider Barrow Capability, Capacity and Resilience (BCCR) Programme. Our purpose is to assess and enable the Supply Chain to support accelerated production timescales and underpin the required in yard dates for the SSNA build programme. Within this role there will be an opportunity to travel
