Job title: Principal Engineer – Mechanical Engineering
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Frimley, Filton, Broad Oak, Brough, Manchester or Weymouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role

What you’ll be doing:
- You will be supporting the team with the overall development of technology and of the qualification of Mechanical Systems
- Hold a key role in the engagement of both the Supplier Development & Supply Chain
- Support and develop new tool processes for a newly emerging team
- Support in the spatial development and build/test/qualification
- Engage with stakeholders across varying levels throughout all stages of the programme
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Have a background within Mechanical Propulsion systems
- Degree level qualification in STEM subject or ideally a Mechanical/Engineering bias
- Hold a strong mechanical design background
- Have experience in maintaining stakeholder relationships and be comfortable with building new engagements
- You will need to have a passion for developing ideas & influencing skills within a new team
Desirable:
- Model Based System Engineering experience

The Submarine Design Sandbox team:
By joining the Submarine Design Sandbox team, you will have a fantastic opportunity to help lead in the development of the Mechanical Propulsion systems as we enter exciting new projects within BAE Systems. One of our latest programmes is focussed on the development of Tools and Processes & Technologies that could benefit the SSNA programme. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
