Job Description

Job Title: Support Engineering

Location: FaslaneWe offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to support the ongoing operation of Astute Class Submarines including platform technical information from previously published sources
  • Provide Astute Class Combat System / Platform Authoritative Advice in response to engineering queries raised by the MOD Design Authority
  • Act as point of contact for customer queries from Ministry of Defence (MoD) reaching out to wider team for support, and working alongside the customer in a collaborative manner
  • Provide support across the In-Service Engineering functional areas, focusing on Platform, Mechanical/Electrical, Safety and Environmental, Design Change, Commissioning, Training and Learning from Experience (LfE)
  • Collate, review and action LFE and Continuous Improvement (CI) items from the review of Operational Deficiencies and Defects. As well as the Identification of issues for inclusion in the Continuous Improvement process

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Engineering qualification (BEng / MEng or equivalent) and/or suitable background in Maritime engineering employment with Platform Mechanical/Electrical domains
  • Experience in a Customer facing role, be an experienced and skilled communicator and have good technical report writing skills
  • Knowledge/experience of the Submarines or Maritime domain

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and Systems Engineering
  • IEng/Eng Tech accreditation, or be able to satisfy requirements for these awards, of a relevant engineering institution

The Faslane Waterfront Team:

This is an exciting role to support the United Kingdom’s Submarine Fleet, working at the Waterfront with the customer and supporting Submarines with technical queries. You and the team will be responsible for supporting all Submarines in-service and any legacy equipment built by the business. You will be directly supporting the customer and industry partners and meeting these Stakeholders regularly while also building yourself a lasting career at BAE Systems.
