Role Description:

The Practitioner Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager to ensure that the technical, cost and schedule goals associated with assigned projects are achieved in accordance with the contractual and company requirements in order to deliver required business goals. The role may also be responsible (with support from the Project Manager) for the planning and delivery of straightforward, small projects or a collection of discrete tasks with defined scope and sufficient scale to require the application of Project Management (PM) within the cost, schedule and quality constraints while managing risk and opportunity.

Core Duties:

  • Co-ordinate project detailed planning actives in accordance with BAE Systems Australia’s Earned Value Management (EVM) and Project Controls processes
  • Work to established key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
  • Generation of status reports and co-ordination of variance analysis and corrective action activities
  • Maintenance of the of the project management baseline
  • Assist the preparation and costing of tenders, Engineering Change Proposals (ECP’s) and Contract Change Proposals (CCP’s)
  • Identify project opportunities and risks and support the development mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout contract phases. Monitor and report on the status of risks and opportunities
  • Delivery of works following project management policies and processes in line with BAE Systems Australia’s Operational Framework
  • Identifying and recommending Value for Money (VFM) initiatives that improve project outcomes for the company and customers

Essential Skills:

  • Specific project management qualifications are not mandatory but vocational/ trade or higher education qualifications in project management and/ or an allied discipline are highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of discrete project outcomes within a low complexity project environment
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Experience co-ordinating cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team essential
  • Experience in Manufacturing requirement planning, Production/ procurement is desired but essential

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.
