Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for Platform Controls Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate program based at Osborne, SA.

The Platform Controls team manage the development, design and integration of the control and monitoring systems on the Hunter Class Frigate. These systems are essential to enable the ship to meet customer requirements, for the vessel to go to sea on schedule and for the ship to be managed efficiently by the crew when in service.

The Hunter Class Frigate Program is a large, complex program and so offers an opportunity to working in an environment that is both technically challenging and exciting. Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of our work, we are keen to hear from engineering talent across Electrical, HVAC, Auxiliaries, Mechanical with a PMS background.

Core Duties:

  • Provide engineering expertise into the broader platform team to deliver significant aspects of engineering activity in relation to the interface of Platform Systems with the Platform Management & Control (PM&C) System during the design phase.
  • Support the management of change in the PM&C area which impacts Platform Systems.
  • Provide engineering support to the ship build during the set to work and testing phases in the area of system interfaces with the PM&C system.
  • Provide technical support for the Platform Engineering team in the area of interfacing controls in the form of CDRL reviews, data validation, document development/updates and liaising between suppliers and PM&C on an as needed basis.
  • Ensure the PM&C design is correctly captured within platform documentation to achieves safety and functional requirements via ownership of HCF documents and review of supplier delivered information
  • Provide integration support to the PM&C System engineers during the design phase and validating that the requirements captured reflect the design requirements within platform documentation
  • Provide direction support to test and commissioning during the set to work stages of the Platform Management System in owned platform systems
  • Ownership of platform controls documents, taking the lead to develop new for Hunter Class or modify those originating from the reference ship.
  • Manage Hunter Class change which is applicable to platform controls, liaising with stakeholders ensure a best for program outcome.

About YOU

  • Degree qualification in a STEM discipline or chartered professional engineer status or ability and commitment to obtain.
  • Experience in Platform Management system (PMS)
  • High levels of resilience and adaptability
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise issues/ tasks as they arise.
  • Maintain and develop your SQEP in complex warship design and integration of control systems
  • Maintain and develop understanding of systems engineering and the application of systems engineering and Lifecycle Management
