Role description:

As a Manufacturing Engineering you will develop, implement, improve optimum and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly and installation at Naval Ships (including verification methods). These tasks will be optimised to meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery throughout the product lifecycle including influencing design intent and Design for Manufacture.

Core Duties:

  • Significantly influence, collaborate and coordinate Manuf Eng activities, creating the future legacy for Shipbuilding on the Clyde and in our customer and partner facilities.
  • Lead, develop and motivate assigned team members through good open and honest communications.
  • Create, Define & Approve Facilities, Equipment, Tooling, Processes Manufacturing Instructions, Policies, Process Instructions), where appropriate, confirm and approve team member work.
  • Understand and Influence Product Design to define optimised products to meet operational capabilities
  • Create and support benefit cases for funded improvement and manages the facility investment project from concept to commissioning.
  • Observe, collate, document data and use analysis tools to trend/make recommendations.
  • Agree, prioritise, schedule and plan activities to meet Project / Programme Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Previous experience in either Manufacturing / Process / Method Planning, NC Programming, Tool Definition, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Systems Implementations or Facility Investment activities.
  • To understand and interpret requirements, specifications and engineering models and outputs.
  • To analyse problems into root causes rather than symptoms using recognised techniques. Conceptual and methodical thinking to describe and define processes and procedures
  • Understanding cost, quality and schedule drivers and their interactions.
  • Project and task management skills in coordinating and delivering successful activities

The ME3 team:

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will have significant involvement in key Manufacturing Engineering projects. You will use your knowledge and experience to guarantee delivery of Manufacturing Engineering outputs into our customer Manufacturing Operations Function that ensure design intent can be met. The role holder will advise, coach and influence other team members from Manufacturing Engineering as well as collaborating functions: Engineering Quality, Supply-Chain
