Role Description:

The Manager, Strategy & Architecture is responsible for leading the development and execution of Enterprise Services technology strategy, architecture, and innovation to support the organisation’s strategic objectives. The role provides leadership of the Architecture function within a federated architecture operating model, ensuring enterprise platforms, technology services, and investments are aligned to business priorities, enterprise standards, and long-term organisational outcomes.

As a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, the role drives enterprise architectural direction, governance, and capability uplift across Enterprise Services, enabling secure, resilient, and future-ready technology services. The Manager, Strategy & Architecture fosters a high-performing and collaborative architecture community and balances business outcomes, technology risk, operational excellence, and innovation to deliver sustainable value across the enterprise.

Core Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Enterprise Services technology strategies and roadmaps that align technology capabilities with business priorities and long-term organisational objectives.
  • Ensure technology investments deliver business value and support enterprise capability outcomes.
  • Lead the Enterprise Services architecture practice and provide strategic direction within a federated architecture model.
  • Establish and govern architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures to enable consistent and effective technology decision-making.
  • Provide architectural assurance for major investments, programs, projects, and technology changes.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to shape technology strategies that enable organisational objectives and future capabilities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on technology opportunities, risks, investment priorities, and emerging trends.
  • Lead and coordinate architecture activities across all architecture domains to support integrated business and technology outcomes.
  • Support major Enterprise Services initiatives through strategic architecture planning, solution direction, and transformation management.
  • Drive simplification, modernisation, and technical debt reduction across the Enterprise Services portfolio.
  • Champion emerging technologies and innovative approaches that improve business performance, operational efficiency, resilience, and customer outcomes.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to optimise, standardise, and enhance technology value delivery.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing architecture team and broader architecture community.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture that supports innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
  • Build organisational architecture capability to meet current and future business needs.

About You

You will bring:

  • Proven experience developing and executing enterprise technology strategies, roadmaps, and architecture plans.
  • Extensive enterprise architecture experience across business, information, solution, technical, and security domains.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen with experience aligning technology investments to business value and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and engage effectively with senior leaders and business partners.
  • Experience assessing current and future technology capabilities to support transformation and modernisation initiatives.
  • Proven track record evaluating and implementing emerging technologies and innovation opportunities.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience establishing architecture governance, managing technology risk, and ensuring compliance with standards and policies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with experience managing complex enterprise challenges.
  • Relevant Information Technology qualification – preferred.
  • Eligibility to hold and maintain a NV1 Defence clearance.
