About the OPPORTUNITY –
We have a great opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Auxiliary to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program. This role can be performed out Adelaide, Victoria, NSW, Queensland or Perth.
If you are based outside of Adelaide, please note occasional travel to Osborne may be required.
You will be responsible for working within the team on mechanical auxiliary systems, specifically on auxiliary piping. As a senior/lead member of the team, you will play a mentoring role of other engineers, providing guidance and support with tasks and overall leadership to the broader team. It is important that you have demonstrated experience operating in a people leadership or senior position prior.
This role will see you:
- Lead the engineering outputs of the mechanical engineering auxiliary team
- Manage and lead a small team of multi-disciplinary engineers
- Developing mechanical auxiliary system equipment to meet an established set of requirements, including participating in design reviews
- Developing optimised Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment detail designs and present the designs in design reviews
- Supporting the translation of the Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment design into a manufacturable solution and incorporate changes as required
- Undertaking the integration and validation of the Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment design including contributing to the integration and validation plans and reports
- Supporting Mechanical Auxiliary systems and/or equipment qualification activities to ensure that the product meets all requirements including safety and regulatory requirements.

About YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Experience in maritime may be considered suitable in lieu of a degree
- Demonsttrated leadership experience, managing a team, providing day-to-day support to a team
- Experience in a maritime/marine defence environment would be highly advantageous
- Extensive background in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of auxiliary piping
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and documentation writing
- Strong problem solving skills
- The ability to prioritise individual work and the teams workload and the ability multitask various issues and demands
- A current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
