Job Description

Job Title: Lead Enterprise Data Architect

Location: Frimley, Preston or Glasgow plus other locations will be considered. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £82,000 plus extensive benefits

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drives initiatives to develop data architecture patterns for reuse throughout the enterprise
  • Influences data technology strategy and data architecture, including metadata, integration, business intelligence and data storage
  • Applies knowledge, skills and training to deliver the information technology and data architecture solutions required to ensure BAE Systems meets its strategic and tactical goals.
  • Lead staff in the development of Enterprise and programme level data models and views across the full range of business functions, ensuring industry and organisational standards e.g. UML, are applied
  • Uses models and views to support a range of endeavours including projects, transformations and functional support e.g. Sparx – EA
  • Identify, assess and promote where appropriate new architecture tools and techniques for architecture development in areas such as data modelling, data cataloguing, data quality and storage

Your skills and experiences:

  • Experience in leading technical work, in particular data modelling. Ability to provide direction with regards to both technical approach and model content
  • Proven experience with leading strategic conversations with senior leaders developing change initiates within Enterprise Data Architecture
  • A good level of experience in enterprise data modelling working within a complex environment
  • Advises on available standards, methods, tools, applications and processes relevant to group specialism(s) and can make appropriate choices from alternatives
  • Understands and evaluates the organisational impact of new technologies and Data Architecture services
  • Clearly demonstrates impactful communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in both formal and informal settings, articulating complex ideas to broad audiences
  • Learning and professional development — takes action to advance own skills and identify and manage development opportunities in area of responsibility

The Enterprise Data Architecture team:

This exciting new role sits in the Data COE Data Architecture Team, which forms part of the Head Office Information Management and Technology Team under the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The profile and requirements of the Team have recently significantly increased due to multiple enterprise-wide transformation programmes, including OneDDC which aims to restructure digital, data and cyber across the enterprise. Reporting into the Principle Enterprise Data Architect, the role creates a good opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to drive strategic output on large scale programmes and projects, through understanding business needs and data modelling across the enterprise.
