Job Description

Job Title: Industrial Strategy Director

Location: Ottawa, ON

What you’ll be doing:

  • Play a leading role in the design and delivery of BAE Systems’ industrial strategy in Canada, ensuring it aligns with national defence, innovation, and economic goals, alongside cross-company strategic objectives

  • Provide strategic guidance to the Group and Sectors to identify industrial opportunities, partnerships, and investment areas that enhance growth and competitiveness

  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in the Canadian government, industry associations, industry and beyond to strengthen BAE’s role as a Canadian partner across defence, security, space and aerospace programs

  • Contribute to early-stage campaigns and strategic pursuits by advising on industrial collaboration strategies and ensuring alignment with Canadian policy requirements.

  • Identify, generate and support opportunities for government grants, R&D collaborations, and innovation partnerships aligned with BAE’s strategic objectives

  • Develop and promote initiatives that build local supply chain capacity, drive technological innovation, and support sustainable industrial development in Canada

  • Work in close collaboration across internal stakeholders in Canada and the global BAE Systems organisation, across functions including Business Development, Strategy, Commercial, Offset, Program Management, Engineering and beyond

  • Elevate BAE Systems’ profile within the Canadian defence ecosystem by highlighting the company’s capabilities, culture, and commitment to long-term partnership

Your skills and experiences:

  • Deep understanding of Canada’s strategic Defence, Security, Space and Aerospace objectives and policies, including relevant industrial policies, objectives and processes, such as Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) frameworks and procurement processes

  • Demonstrated experience of working in multinational teams and collaborating in a complex global environment

  • Proven strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and ability to influence at senior levels

  • Canadian industrial expertise, including competitive dynamics, strategic trends, insights on key capabilities and opportunities for development of win-win collaborations

  • Defence, Security, Space and Aerospace experience an advantage, wider adjacent industry experience also welcomed along with relevant expertise (e.g. from management consulting)

  • Clear evidence of driving successful outcomes, through complex analysis and strategy distillation, option presentation and collaboration across diversified internal and external stakeholder groups

The Group Business Development team:

You will be a part of the Group Business Development organization, a global team responsible for driving growth and strategic alignment across BAE Systems’ Air, Land, Naval, Space, and Cyber domains. In this role, you’ll work closely with industrial participation, business development, and campaign teams in Canada, while coordinating with offset teams in the UK, Australia, and other regions to deliver a cohesive global approach. Collaboration sits at the heart of the role—you’ll partner with colleagues across strategy, government relations, and program functions to shape BAE’s industrial footprint in Canada. The team operates in a dynamic, growth-focused environment that values autonomy, innovation, and collaboration, offering the opportunity to contribute to BAE’s expanding presence in a key international market.
