Job Title: Head of Logistics
Location: Any of the following sites (Portsmouth, Radway Green Crewe, Glascoed Monmouthshire). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: From £75,000 depending on skills and experience plus executive package
A new opportunity has arisen for a Head of Logistics to lead our end-to-end warehousing and logistics capability. This will include UK and International transportation, goods receipt and despatch, Warehouse management, inventory control, kitting and infrastructure investment.
Working directly for the Supply Chain Director, you will be accountable for setting the logistics strategy, leading on best practice, driving business improvement and responding to business need including optimisation of footprint, 3PL/4PL tenders, customer asset control and oversight of external partners.
Working in a matrix organisation you will lead an Organisational Design review for Warehousing and Logistics and lead the future functional operating model: 150+ people, ~£350m of company and customer owned assets, over 6 sites across the UK.
This an excellent opportunity in a growing business which will also enable you to work across the Sector and Group Logistics teams to help define the strategy for the UK enterprise.
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for the transport and logistics function including company and customer owned assets, as defined in the future operating model
- Accountable for the overall process and procedures within transport and logistics operations, with the objective of improving cost, service and flexibility for the business, whilst creating a continuous improvement culture across the wider team
- Developing and driving KPIs ensuring internal service levels are agreed and maintained, this could include elements such as stock accuracy, pick accuracy, scrap and waste measures
- Ensuring capacity planning is understood against business requirements, undertaking scenario modelling and developing innovative options to maximise space, flexibility and minimise operational costs
- Championing the highest standards of Health & Safety within the warehousing environment, act as a role model for H&S across the team
- Project management – identifying and leading improvement projects to improve schedule enablement, quality and cost, seek agreement and manage these projects through to completion
- Ensuring logistics capability is managed including training and people development to meet the current and future needs of the team
Your skills and experiences:
- Logistics experience in a large and/or complex organisation, confident working in a matrix environment and contributing to future logistics strategy
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams, fostering a positive and inclusive culture
- Strong analytical capability, using data to identify root causes and support sound business decisions
- Collaborative approach, able to leverage team expertise to deliver effective solutions
- Creative problem-solver, comfortable driving change in complex environments
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to build, influence and sustain networks across the business
- High attention to detail with excellent communication skills, able to engage, inspire and provide constructive feedback
