Job Title: Graduate Submarines Mechanical Engineer
Location: Barrow (Cumbria). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.
Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role Description
You will support the design and development of Submarine Mechanical Systems such as Ventilation and Atmosphere Control and Survival Systems. You will assist with the design, development and modelling of submarine propulsion systems and help create equipment that can withstand shock and dynamic movements during operation. You will also contribute to the structural design of submarines. A small number of individuals may have the opportunity to receive further training to apply their skills within the nuclear reactor build, test and commissioning areas of the business.
Core Duties
- Support mechanical design and analysis.
- Assist with requirements management and specifications development.
- Prepare calculations and technical documentation.
- Contribute to systems modelling and engineering analysis.
- Apply standards, procedures, and work under technical supervision.

Qualification requirements
You must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a minimum 2:2 bachelor’s degree or a pass at master’s level in the following subjects: Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive or Structural Engineering.
Start date: 25th January 2027 Length of contract: Permanent contract
