Job Title: GCAP Software Engineer

Location: Warton

Salary: £41,316+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• GCAP activities – to support the collaborative working activities such as technical proposals, studies and reviewing technical developments (e.g. processes and tools) from partners
• Working within a team to develop processes including evaluation of Software Engineering Tools
• Development of DO-178C compliant Software Engineering Processes and Standards including the specification of tools (e.g. meta-models, profiles and code generation)
• Working within a team to develop tools compliant with DO-330 (requirements, design, coding, verification and documentation)

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience; preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• The ability to work collaboratively within a large scale programme
• Experience of software development lifecycle and processes
• Software Development of applications (code, debugging and test)
• Software languages (e.g. C, C++, Java) and Object Oriented Programming
• Software Development Tools (e.g. Requirements, IDEs, Test and Configuration Management)

Desirable:

Preferably one or more of the following ;

• Knowledge of Formal Software Development Lifecycle (such as DO178C)
• Developing real-time or embedded applications
• Agile Software Development

The GCAP Software team:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join GCAP Software Enterprise as part of a major national and international collaborative programme which is critical to the future UK defence. The GCAP Software Enterprise is developing a set of Processes, Tools and Infrastructure to support rapid software development and delivery across Airborne (Mission Systems, Vehicle Systems) and Ground Based (Training, Mission Planning, Engineering Support etc.) systems.
