About the OPPORTUNITY

We currently have 2 opportunities for a Fire Warden/Emergency Response Team Lead to join our team based at the Naval Shipyard, Osborne, SA. In this role you will lead and coordinate the Emergency Response Group (ERG) in any incidents within the Shipyard. The role is also responsible for the atmospheric testing and issue and control of work permits across the whole shipyard.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinate and issue of Permits such as Hot work, Radiography, Painting/Chemicals, Tank entry / Confined Space, Pressure Vessels and any others within the shipyard site and Production shipbuilding environment, in liaison with the Ship Safety Superintendent.
  • Day to day ERG response for any incidents: Respond to any alarms and emergency issues, liaise with MFS and SAPOL as required. Day to day operation of the ERG team, qualification, Training and equipment maintenance.
  • Coordination of ERG Team members: Day and afternoon shift scheduling of Team member rosters as required to support ship construction activities.
  • Act as the first point of contact in an event of a Shipyard Incident or emergency within the shipyard.
  • Take reasonable care to protect own and others health and safety and comply with all SHE policies and procedures.
  • Development of ERG rescue procedures, and review of equipment required.

About YOU

  • Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Essential).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self- contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) experience.
  • Senior First Aider or Higher, including Advanced Resuscitation.
  • Experience of MFS, CFS, SES or military would be an advantage.
  • Familiar with Confined Space Management.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
