Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak – Full time Onsite within the Maritime Integration & Support Centre (MISC)

Salary: Circa £46,000 dependent on skills and experiences

What you’ll be doing:

You will be providing first‑line equipment support and maintenance at the Maritime Integration & Support Centre (MISC), ensuring contracted levels of equipment availability are consistently met. Working collaboratively with the Waterfront Support Team at HMNB Portsmouth to deliver integrated technical support, including trials and equipment tasks. Building and sustaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure effective coordination, clear communication, and successful operational delivery.

Core duties:

  • Complying with all relevant legislation, company policies, and established safety and quality standards
  • Providing radar system and associated equipment support at the Maritime Integration & Support Centre (MISC)
  • Supporting Waterfront Radar activities, working collaboratively with internal and external teams
  • Maintaining accurate project, equipment, and task documentation, supporting Engineering and Quality verification
  • Responding to technical queries within competence, supporting the Design Authority to resolve defects and issues
  • Working independently or as part of a team, maintaining work areas, communicating effectively, and coaching new team members

Essential skills:

  • HNC (or equivalent) qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant time‑served engineering experience
  • Broad engineering knowledge covering hardware, software, and integrated systems
  • Considerable understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work
  • Familiarity with security, ITAR, quality, and configuration management controls and working with the SAP tool
  • Willingness to develop further system expertise through on‑the‑job training, formal courses
  • Experience fault‑finding, repairing, and commissioning complex electronic systems; governance knowledge advantageous

The Field Service team:

The Field Service team is a small, highly specialised engineering group delivering critical field support to the Royal Navy’s subsurface fleet and future platforms. The role offers exposure to cutting‑edge technology and broad business interaction within a Naval/Marine environment, without the requirement for deployment at sea.
