Role Description:

The Electronics Technician – Weapons provides technical support for the installation, integration, testing, maintenance, and sustainment of weapons-related systems and equipment. The role involves performing hands-on maintenance and fault-finding activities, supporting system implementation and acceptance testing, and ensuring equipment meets required performance, safety, and reliability standards throughout its lifecycle.

Working closely with engineering, maintenance, and customer teams, the Electronics Technician – Weapons ensures all activities are completed in accordance with contractual requirements, technical standards, and company procedures to deliver successful operational and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee maintenance activities in accordance with approved work orders, utilising authorised personnel, approved technical data, and calibrated tools and test equipment.
  • Support engineering investigations, defect analysis, and related technical activities while maintaining adherence to scheduled maintenance commitments.
  • Provide field service support to Royal Australian Navy (RAN) vessels, shore establishments, and BAE Systems Australia business units as required.
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and scheduled maintenance activities to meet operational and maintenance program requirements.
  • Identify, report, and assist in the timely resolution of issues relating to safety, technical data, personnel, tooling, and test equipment.
  • Ensure all tools, test equipment, and maintenance assets are serviceable, compliant, safe, and fit for purpose prior to use.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence while supporting the achievement of maintenance and business objectives.

Essential Skills:

  • Certificate IV in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Completion of the MK45 Gun Maintainer/Operator Course (RAN EDP) highly desirable.
  • demonstrated experience in electronics and/or avionics system maintenance
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a collaborative and contributing member of a maintenance team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and compliance within a maintenance environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance, with eligibility to hold a higher-level clearance if required.
