Job Description

The EW Advisor is responsible to the QEAF EW Commander for the provision of advice and guidance on the production and maintenance of Typhoon Mission Data (MD) and general EW matters. They are responsible for the planning and co-ordination aspects of Typhoon EW based activities to support QEAF Typhoon Operations, providing integral day-to-day support. The EW Advisor will provide EW MD lifecycle guidance helping to ensure that Typhoon MD and associated processes are ‘fit for purpose’, articulating risks to the EW Commander to ensure confidence and understanding of Typhoon EW capability. They will be responsible for the supervision of two EW SMEs.

Core Activity:

  • This
    role provides key advice and operational guidance into the QEAF Typhoon EW
    capability. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the QEAF EW Commander
    with the design and continuous development of the QEAF Typhoon EW MD capability
    to support QEAF Typhoon operations.
  • Advise
    on the appropriate approach to Typhoon EW data production to meet the
    operational and training requirements of the EW Commander. These activities
    include the provision of advice and support on the design, development and
    implementation of management process to be utilised in Typhoon MD production
    and maintenance.
  • Providing
    advice on the translation of operational intent to EW MD requirements and
    specifications in support of the EW Commander and output of the QEAF Typhoon EW
    Cell. Supporting all QEAF EW personnel undertaking EW production, development
    and testing tasks with at-elbow support. The EW Advisor is expected to maintain
    an up to date knowledge of Typhoon EW equipment and capability including the
    operational characteristics and employment of Typhoon. The EW Advisor will
    support and provide guidance on future upgrades to meet operational needs. The
    EW Advisor will also act as the EW point of contact and as a liaison across
    industry teams to provide responses to any EW related queries.
  • Additionally,
    within the role of EW Advisor, the incumbent shall endeavor to augment and
    support the strategic relationships with the customer within the EW environment,
    identifying opportunities and future requirements where applicable.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist QEAF with the design and development of Typhoon EW MD process and lifecycle.
  • Advise/support QEAF EW Commander and Officers in all EW related aspects of Typhoon MD in order to deliver effective EW support to QEAF Typhoon operations.
  • Ensure that any changes to QEAF EW MD capability are fully understood by the Customer and integrated to support the EW Commander.
  • Review EW MD Lifecycle processes, highlighting changes as required to increase Operational effectiveness of the QEAF Typhoon EW Cell.
  • Act as the Typhoon EW lead for contact with the Customer.
  • Effective leadership, management and supervision of up to two EW SMEs providing EW support to the QEAF.
  • Mentor subordinate staff to ensure operationally focused support to the Customer EW requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified
    and experienced EW expert with experience within an operational EW Environment.
  • Understanding
    of the operational aspects of Typhoon capabilities, specifically the EW
    systems.
  • Comprehensive
    understanding of the EW toolsets used within the QEAF EWOS solution including
    capabilities and limitations.
  • Experience
    of working with/within military teams producing Typhoon EW MD.
  • Required to maintain operational
    knowledge of current and future EW aspects of Typhoon and the Air Environment.
