Job Title: Deputy Security Controller

Location: Washington – Hybrid 3-4 days per week on site with occasional travel

Job Description:

As a Deputy Security Controller, you will manage the physical, technical and personnel security posture for our Washington site alongside the wider Security Operations Team.

To achieve this, you will liaise with both external MoD & civilian authorities regarding technical information, manage protectively marked material, ensure implementation of physical and documentary security policies and ensure security policies and measures are up to date.

Core duties:

  • You will assess the adequacy of the security measures within their business area to ensure that policies and procedures are up-to-date and take account of developments
  • You will conduct and review security assessments and define operational requirements for the assigned work stream to protect critical assets in line with company policies, regulations and contractual requirements
  • You will provide subject matter expertise on personnel, physical and/or information security processes and procedures to ensure adequate level of awareness across the Enterprise
  • You will provide security advice and guidance to the business group internal and external stakeholders and make recommendations to improve security solutions for the work stream base, based on intelligence and analysis, and with guidance
  • You will review, assure and improve workstream related activities, programs, frameworks and functional processes aimed at developing best practices and integrating efficient security solutions to enhance the security environment
  • You will drive security best practice through knowledge sharing to ensure consistency within the business area and compliance with security policies and practices

Essential Skills:

  • You will bring a good understanding of government and industry standard security policy, standards and best practice guidance
  • You will have knowledge of relevant MoD processes to include security and FSC processes, to develop knowledge of BAE Systems and security functions at a local level
  • You will understand how the team coordinates their efforts to achieve the overall objectives of Security
  • You will have good business acumen within the Security sub function and relevant Business group
  • You will be knowledgeable in security risk management techniques
  • You will demonstrate technical knowledge and skills reflective of a security professional who has progressed within security positions of increasing responsibility

The Security Operations Team:

You will be joining a new role within an expanding team, providing growth prospects, that is responsible for both the physical and technical security across numerous defence solution sites. Playing a key role within a heavily regulated area of the business, you will be responsible for driving regulatory compliance, whilst being a key point of contact for various stakeholders, such as the MoD.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
